Goodwood needn’t always be about tweed and tradition, as the latest Retro Rides Weekend on May 18-19 ably demonstrated. The event predominantly caters for pre-’98 cars, but that’s where the guidelines end, resulting in a brilliantly eclectic mix of old motors accompanied by a superb atmosphere.

As we’ve come to expect from Historics, they’ll be plenty of variety amongst the consignments at the Weybridge venue, with everything from no-reserve lots to prized exotica.

Ford is to bring 23 years of Ford Ka production to a close this autumn by dropping the latest iteration from its European line-up. The model began life as a hugely successful A-segment city car, but in 2016, became the budget B-segment Ka+, based on the Fiesta platform.

After only six years producing its hugely popular cars, the name Citroën was up in lights on the Eiffel Tower. Another 94 years later and this year the marque celebrates its centenary. Following the Rétromobile show in Paris, there is to be a special showcase at the London Classic Car Show on February 14-17.

The 44th edition of the popular Rétromobile show gets underway from today, running until Sunday February 10 at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles. The event’s three halls will be packed full with over 650 exhibitors, 100 clubs and around 600 cars, but there will also be some very special milestones celebrated in the French capital.

We’re used to seeing automotive exotica going under the hammer at major classic car shows, but the auction at the Rétromobile show at Paris Expo on is poised to be a real mind-blower. Paris-based auction house Artcurial will put 147 vehicles under the hammer on February 8, and few are likely to come cheap.
