    Milestone anniversaries were celebrated at Beaulieu’s eighth annual Simply Japanese rally, which took place on July 28. The event marked 30 years of the evergreen Mazda MX-5 and 50 years of the Nissan GT-R, with first-class examples joining a bumper display of 1410 Japanese cars – nearly a 50 per cent increase over last year.

    More details have been revealed for November’s Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show, with Discovery, held at Birmingham’s NEC. The event is celebrating its 35th birthday in 2019, and to mark that milestone, Hall 8 will be dedicated to the marques, models and clubs that have appeared since 1984.

Nissan is marking the half-century of the legendary GT-R badge with a 50th Anniversary Edition GT-R, while Land Rover is celebrating three decades of the Discovery with its new Landmark Edition.

    After much furore and discussion, the controversial new Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) for central London was finally put in place a few weeks ago. The new rules mean certain classic cars now face a daily charge whenever they enter the zone, and unlike the outgoing Congestion Charge, it’s applied 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
