A Morris Leslie auction always has plenty of classics to tempt bidders and its September 21 sale is no exception. Here are our ones to watch
Over 100 entries are set to go under the hammer at Morris Leslie’s next sale at its base in Perthshire, with more to added in the run-up to the auction.
Luxury is the order of the day, headlined by an imposing 2006 Bentley Continental GTC. The drop-top grand tourer boasts fresh Pirelli P-Zero tyres, a hefty spec sheet and just 76,000 miles on its W12 engine, equating to a £16,000–18,000 estimate. A 1980 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow II offers a more traditional British luxury experience, resplendent in Walnut Brown and guided at a temptingly low £5500–6250.
If you fancy subtler luxury, a 1976 Daimler XJC could be for you – one of just 1677 Daimler examples produced, the 4.2 coupe could be yours for an estimated £8000–9000. A final British coupe comes in the form of the rare 1982 Rolls-Royce Corniche II, wearing unusual whitewall tyres and clearly having lived a life, as evidenced by service history from London Crewe, the Isle of Man and Monte Carlo. Such luxury is expected to fetch £38,000–42,000.
If your tastes are humbler, a 1968 Triumph Herald 13/60 makes the perfect useable ’60s classic and is estimated at £4000–5000, while a 1959 Morris Minor is described as a “driveable rolling restoration” and looks a tempting prospect at an estimated £1750–2250. Elsewhere, a 1988 Citroën 2CV6 converted to a van offers later 602cc power with commercial practicality for an estimated £4750–5500 and rivals a 1953 Austin A40 Devon in the space stakes. The latter is an older restoration that was featured on AROnline and is expected to fetch £4000–4750.
Elsewhere, a 1972 Vauxhall Victor 2300 could make a quirky daily-driver classic for an estimated £5750-£6500, while our heads were turned by a 1968 Rover P6 2000 – a rare Series 1 car with a manual transmission, it’s estimated at a remarkably low £1750–2500.
If sporting motoring is more your fare, a 1997 BMW Z3 1.9 is offered with the low estimate of £1000–1500 and a 1989 TVR Tasmin 350 is offered without reserve, as is a 1997 Mercedes SLK 230 Kompressor. Fanciers of Americana will like a 2007 Ford Mustang GT with its 4.6-litre V8, all for an estimated £6000–6500, while a 1996 BMW E36 M3 Evo Convertible looks smart in Techno Violet and carries an £11,000–13,000 guide.
Continuing the theme, a 2006 Jaguar XKR could put a supercharged V8 on your driveway for an estimated £6500–8000, while a 1990 Porsche 944 presents well in Guards Red following a mechanical overhaul and is expected to make £6000–6750.
