Historics’ fifth sale of 2023 marks its second visit to Bicester Heritage, following the success of its maiden sale at the former RAF base in 2022

More than 80 entries are set to cross the block at Historics’ next sale, ranging from pre-war vehicles through to an almost new example of the Defender-aping Ineos Grenadier.

It’s British sportscars that dominate though, especially of the open-topped variety. Amongst them you’ll find big-engined bruisers like a 1960 Austin-Healey 3000 estimated at £36,000-£42,000 and a 1977 Morgan Plus 8 guided at £25,000-£30,000, plus a lovely Triumph Spitfire Mk1, a no-reserve 1961 Daimler SP250 once used by the Metropolitan Police and a 1929 MG PA built to Q-Type specification that could make £50,000.

In addition, you’ll find a wide section of Triumph TR models including a TR3A, a TR4, a TR4 IRS, a couple of TR5s and a TR6. Of these, the standout has to be a Jasmine Yellow 1968 TR5 that Histroics believe is the best it has ever offered.

Other Brits include a trio of 1960s Mini Cooper Ss, two of them rare Mk2 models, while potential headliners include a couple of Aston Marin DB6s, one a 1968 car that could sell for as much as £265,000. You’ll also find two Vanquish S models –  including an ultimate edition from 2007 – plus no fewer than seven Bentley’s ranging from a 1961 S1 to a 2004 Arnage R. There are several Rolls-Royces too, the oldest a 1932 20/25 Limousine by Crosbie & Dunn and the newest a 2012 Phantom Coupe. At the opposite end of the scale, meanwhile, is a very early 1948 MM-Series lowlight Morris Minor, estimated at £14,000-£19,000.

Of course, it’s not all Brits. A no-reserve 1965 Alfa Romeo 2600 Touring Spider that’s been in storage for more than 30 years is joined by a rare 1990 Maserati Karif, and there are at least four Ferraris too, the oldest currently being a 1979 308 GT4 Dino.

Iconic modern classics set to be offered include a 1998 Honda Integra Type R, a 1988 Peugeot 205 GTI and two Mk5 Volkswagen GTIs that are both offered with no reserve. There’s also a 1975 Ford Escort RS1800 rally car to add a touch of motorsport flavour, plus a 1959 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible to inject some American glamour.   • One of only 25 right- hand drive examples and especially desirable in non-catalysed form, this 1990 Maserati Karif was originally built for the Manging Director of Maserati in the UK and painted in Dark Aquamarine, which is understood to be a unique colour. It’s estimated at £17,000-£23,000.
  • Owned by the vendor for 19 years, this 1988 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL is a late galvanised example of the R107 model and is said to be in excellent condition. It’s resplendent in Signal Red with a tan leather and is expected to changed hands for £19,000-£24,000.
  • Joining a trio of Cooper S models in the dale is this rather humbler 1988 Mini City Automatic. It’s covered just 33,320 miles and has been with the vendor for 34 years, during which time it’s always been garaged. It’s expected to change hands for £7000-£10,000 but is offered without reserve.
  • One of two Aston Martin DB6s in the sale, this 1968 car could be the sale’s headliner at an estimated £250,000-£265,000. The Olive Green example was restored back in 1995 but remains in excellent order, and comes complete with a sizeable history file.
  • 1998 Honda Integra Type R was in the hands of just one owner until 2021, with the car’s current vendor then taking it to the next level to make it even more outstanding. Superb inside and out, it’s covered 65,000 miles and is expected to sell for £17,000-£22,000.
  • Remarkably, this 1948 Series MM car is said to be the seventh Morris Minor built and is believed to be the oldest car in private ownership. It wears chassis number 507, with 501 belonging to the National Motor Museum and no records of chassis numbers 502-506. It’s estimated at £14,000-£19,000.
  • Described by Historics as one of the finest examples it has seen, this 1968 Triumph TR5 looks superb in Jasmine Yellow and has benefitted from a full nut-and-bolt restoration. It comes with a full photographic record of the work and carries a guide of £42,000-£48,000.
