SWVA’s final classic car auction of 2023 takes place on October 27 with more than 70 lots set to cross the block, from no-reserve entries to rare British icons
Modern classics from the 1990s feature heavily at South Western Vehicle Auctions’ next sale on October 27, including a Mk1 Renault Clio showing a genuine 58,000 miles that’s estimated at £1000-£1500 and a very smart 1993 VW Golf VR6 guided at a mere £2000–3000. As for the many Fords, a 1999 Mk6 Ford Escort Flight with 40,531 miles and a 1998 Mondeo Ghia X TD are both offered with no reserve and a 1994 Mk3 Fiesta is guided at a mere £400-£700. You’ll also find a 39,596-mile Mk4 Escort from 1990 that’s estimated at £1500–2000, while older models include a 1953 Prefect predicted to fetch £3500–4000 and a 1965 Zodiac guided at £7500–8500.
Hotting things up is a 1982 Capri 2.0S that looks to be in fantastic condition and could sell for over £10,000, while a Mk1 Escort RS2000 replica is expected to sell for £20,000-£23,000. Mustangs from 1967 and 1996 also feature, plus a burly F100 pick-up dating from 1960.
In addition, traditional Brits are numerous. A 44,000-mile Triumph Spitfire 1500 joins a 1954 TR2 that’s temptingly estimated at £8000–10,000, while no fewer than six MGs include a 1968 MGC roadster and a 1996 RV8. A 1963 Sunbeam Rapier is also set to be offered, as is a 1970 Mini 1275GT in the rare hue of Antelope. There’s a trio of Morris Minors too, comprising a pair of Series 2 cars – one rather more of a project than the other – and a very nice sidevalve-powered Series 1 estimated at £5500-£6000.
Offering a bit more grunt is a 1990 Bentley Mulsanne S estimated at just £2500–3500, and there are no fewer than three V12-powered Jaguar XJ-S variants – two coupes and one rare XJ-SC model from 1986. We also rather like a black Daimler Sovereign 4.2 that dates from 1967, while another prestige Brit in the shape of a 1990 Aston Martin Virage is guided at £27,500–29,500. Those feeling rave may could be tempted by a 1973 Jensen Interceptor in need of TLC, which is guided at just £8000–9000.
Other interesting lots include a wide range of Mercedes including a 1983 500SL and a 1993 320CE, plus a Citroën Light 15 Traction Avant from 1954 and even a couple of pre-war Americans. For the full catalogue, see swva.co.uk
