Charterhouse will host a unique single-collection auction filled with interesting rarities and curios on August 7
Charterhouse has announced a sale of a collection of vintage and classic cars in-situ at a farm near Bridport, Dorset. As is typical for sales of this nature, each lot is offered without a guide price or reserve, but also in as-is condition.
Twelve cars feature in the sale, including a Triumph TR4 rolling restoration project that comes without driveline or interior, as well as a 1952 Bristol 401 that is described as “running on five of six cylinders”, has been barn stored since 2013 and whose first owner had it for 42 years – we’d expect this to be the biggest earner of the sale, given the rarity of a Bristol restoration project.
An early MGB GT caught our eye too – a 1967 Mk1, it looks smart in British Racing Green with steel wheels and apart from a non-operational bonnet pull, looks ready to enjoy. A 1958 Triumph TR3A offers open-top British sports car motoring with its seemingly very tidy Primrose Yellow bodywork – the previous owner was mid-gearbox change and as such, the transmission is included, but not fitted. Curiously, a manufacture date of 1958 is at odds with the 1982 year of UK registration but right-hand drive suggests it originates from South Africa or similar.
Perhaps the most out-of-place car amongst the British classics is a 1988 Citroën BX19, which has been barn-stored but comes sans keys. As for the automobilia and parts, highlights include two Daimler 250 V8 engines, a vintage caravan, a pair of Triumph TR3A nosecones (one steel, one fibreglass) and a set of Triumph TR6 wheels.
