CCA returns after two years out with a fantastic sale set for the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show on March 19–20

After an absence of two years due to the pandemic, CCA will be back at Birmingham’s NEC to host a busy sale as part of the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show, with discovery+. The auctions take place over the Saturday and Sunday of the show, with no fewer than three separate collections joining a huge variety of traditional, modern and future classics.

Saturday begins with the Warwickshire Collection, which features almost 30 Range Rover, Land Rover, Jaguar and Daimler lots comprising complete cars, projects, separate chassis and barn finds. Amongst them you’ll find a new Jaguar XJ Series 2 bodyshell, three XJ-Cs, a Daimler Double-Six and a whole host of early Range Rovers.

Saturday’s subsequent main sale is extremely eclectic, with a Lancia Fulvia project, a Gilbern Invader, a Porsche 914, a 1948 Alvis TA11 and a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IV among the first lots. You’ll also find a 1968 MGC GT restored by the MG Owners’ Club and a 1965 Saab 96 that recently starred in an episode of Salvage Hunters: Classic Cars. Jaguar fans, meanwhile, might be intrigued by two X300 XJ6s converted to 450bhp Chasseur Tornado spec by Paramount Performance.

Sunday gets under way with the Hampshire Collection – eight Stateside cars ranging from a 1932 Buick to a 1970 Cadillac. This is followed by a selection of British barn find cars in the County Down Collection, comprising mostly Land Rovers, Rover P6s and Jaguars.

A further 100 cars will then go under the hammer, dominated by Mercedes, Porsche and Jaguar entries, but no less eclectic than the previous day. A 1967 Bentley T Convertible could be the headliner at an estimated £80,000-£95,000, but there’s also an exceptional E30 BMW M3, a couple of Audi Quattros, a selection of Mitsubishi Evos, a pair of Subarus Imprezas and several Lotus Elises.

Hot hatches this time include a 2005 Renault Megane Sport 225, a rare 2000 Honda Civic VTI-S Jordan and a 1994 Nissan Pulsar GTI-R, while Italy is well represented by a 1972 De Tomaso Pantera, a 1999 Ferrari F355 F1 Spider, a stunning 1969 Lancia Fulvia Sport Zagato Series 1 and two Delta Integrales. And just when you thought you’d seen it all, there’s even a Lamborghini tractor, a Gaz Volga and a Maestro van to ensure all tastes are catered for.

  • One of just 41 T1 Convertibles produced, this 1967 Bentley by Mulliner Park Ward features black coachwork, black leather and period-correct black vinyl power roof. It features a packed history file and is expected to sell for a headline-grabbing £80,000-£95,000.
  • An outstanding example of the legendary BMW E30 M3, this 1987 car was imported from Japan in 2015 and shows just 59,000km (36,661 miles) from new. It's finished in black with an immaculate black leather interior, and is estimated at £55,000-£65,000.
  • Amongst the many Fords is this rare 1978 Mk2 Escort Mexico in Venetian Red. Fastidiously restored to factory specifications after 20 years in a barn, it comes with bundles of paperwork and is expected to change hands for £30,000-£35,000.
  • This 1972 Gilbern Invader is a smart example of the Mk3 model, which was the Welsh firm's final design. Powered by an upgraded version of Ford's Essex 3.0-litre and supplied with plenty of history, it's estimated at £10,000-£12,000.
  • Just two Jaguar XJ6s were rebuilt by Paramount Performance to Chasseur 450 Tornado spec in the 1990s, and as the name suggests, their twin-turbo straight-six engines are good for 450bhp. Remarkably, both are in the sale; this 1996 car is the second of the pair and is estimated at £20,000-£25,000.
  • Joining several Mercedes-Benz in the sale is this 1967 W108-generation 250S, which has lived most of its life in Athens and covered just over 28,000km (17,400 miles). It remains in superb condition and is estimated at £20,000-£25,000.
  • This garage-find 1980 MGB roadster has covered only 181 miles from new, and though far from factory fresh, it appears to be in reasonable shape considering it hasn't been used for 40 years. It's entered with no reserve and is bound to generate plenty of interest.
  • Featuring amongst several hot hatches is this 1994 Nissan Pulsar GTI-R. The model was sold as the Sunny GTI-R in Europe, and is still fearsomely rapid by today's standards thanks to its 227bhp turbocharged engine. This is a JDM-spec example, imported in 2006 and expected to sell for £15,000-£18,000.
  • Fettled for an episode of the Salvage Hunters: Classic Cars TV show, this 1965 Saab 96 presents well in dark grey and boasts its original interior in good condition. It's another entry to be offered with no reserve.
  • The oldest car in the sale is this Saxon 12HP two-seat tourer, one of over 20,000 vehicles built by Saxon in Detroit during 1916. Imported to the UK in 1992, it has recently been recommissioned and is expected to command £12,000-£15,000.
