THE CAR YEARS TO LAUNCH IN 2019

Posted by Matt Bell on 7th November 2018

The Car Years is a new classic car programme presented by Vicki Butler-Henderson and Alex Riley and is set to launch in 2019, with specialist vehicle insurance broker Footman James as its sponsor.

Called The Car Years, it has a simple premise. Every episode will focus on a specific year of motoring, with each presenter choosing their favourite car from that year. Both presenters will then work to convince the expert panel of judges which is best, with the winner crowned at the end of each show.

The three judges will double up as expert commentators to tell the stories and backgrounds behind the cars. Famous faces include Coys auction house Managing Director Chris Routledge, ex-Top Gear presenter and journalist Quentin Willson and the current script editor of The Grand Tour, Richard Porter.

The series has been created by production company Wiser Films, with the production is led by Tas Brooker and Jim Wiseman, who previously produced Wheeler Dealers and Top Gear respectively.

In the first episode, you’ll see a 1964 Porsche 911 take on a 1964 Ford Mustang, and both presenters are excited by the possibilities the show allows. “I’m thrilled to be part of this beautifully- shot series that allows us to tell the stories behind some of the best known and interesting cars ever made,” said Butler-Henderson.

“This show is a rare thing – it’s all about the cars,” added co-presenter Riley. “We’re not telling people how to be a dealer or a restorer and we’re not just larking about, instead we’re championing great cars and telling the fascinating stories behind them.”
