Jamiroquai front man, Jay Kay, is well known for his love of cars, and a small but varied selection from his famous collection is to be offered by Silverstone Auctions’ during the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show at Birmingham’s NEC on November 10-11.

While his low-mileage Volvo 850R was sold recently, six other classics are still up for grabs. At the more current end, the sale will include his 2015 Porsche 911 Targa 4S and 2016 McLaren 675LT, but there a number of rare classics too. The oldest is a 1967 Ford Mustang 390GT Fastback, which in the iconic Highland Green hue made so famous by Steve McQueen’s Mustang in Bullitt and is expected to make as much as £68,000.

Straight from the ’80s era of excess is a 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL, painted in Thistle Green Metallic with a hardtop and cabin to match. It’s a low-miler, with just 54,000 on the clock, and is estimated at £30,000-£35,000.

Completing the collection is a pair of fantastic BMWs. First up is a BMW E30 M3, but this one is even more special than usual. It’s a 1989 Johnny Cecotto Limited Edition, one of 505 built to celebrate the Venezuelan’s M3 motorsport successes. They came in red, metallic blue or silver, like this one. It has just 18,000 miles on the odometer and could reach £85,000. That figure could be trumped by the second BMW though – an ultra desirable manual 850 CSi in Cosmos Black. The 1996 example has done just 12,777 miles and could pull in as much as £100,000.

In all, 125 classics, 148 pieces of automobilia, 40 watches and four bikes will all be headed to auction over two days. See www.silverstoneauctions.com for more details.
