Silverstone Auctions can lay claim to two new world record sale prices when it saw a 1990 Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth 4×4 and a restored 1972 Ford Escort RS1600 achieve £52,750 and £70,875 respectively at its inaugural September sale at Dallas Burston Polo Club, Warwickshire.

Believed to be one of the first six examples available on the UK market, the 1990 Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworth 4×4 was presented in original condition reading just 13,310 recorded miles and was accompanied with a complete history file, dealer book packs and subsequent tax discs and MoT certifications.

The 1972 Ford Escort RS1600 offered collectors the chance to own a genuine homologation special. Fully restored to a reportedly high standard and finished in period correct Le Mans Green, the immaculate example was bought for £70,875 following a long bidding war.

“To achieve not one but two new world records is a fantastic result for our team,” comments Joe Watts, classic car specialist at Silverstone Auctions. “Both our Porsche Sale and September Sale saw some outstanding classics and excellent prices across the two days, with our new auction venue at Dallas Burston Polo Club proving a hit with our customers.”
