The Classic Sale is the second part of Iconic Auctioneers’ two-day spectacular at Brimingham’s NEC on November 15

Over 130 cars have been entered in Iconic Auctioneers’ Classic Sale, with a greater emphasis on more affordable ‘everyman’ cars than on the previous day.

Those looking for a low-mileage classic will have plenty to choose from. A 2001 Ford Mondeo ST200 Saloon that shows just 12,786 miles could go for as much as £15,000, while a 1985 Bentley Turbo R that’s covered just 19,100 miles is guided at £20,000-£24,000. Continuing the ’80s theme is a left-hand drive, Phase 1 Peugeot 309 GTi with less than 24,000 miles from new, which is expected to fetch £12,000-£15,000, along with a 1988 Toyota MR2 indicating just 25,616 miles, which is guided at £14,000-£18,000. Rather humbler is a 1986 Vauxhall Nova Merit 1.2, which has covered just 6148 miles and is estimated at £4000-£6000.

The 1980s hits don’t end there. A 1984 Opel Monza GSE that’s covered under 50,000 miles is predicted to sell for £8000-£10,000, and a 1989 MG Metro Turbo restored to award-winning condition could net its vendor up to £15,000. We also rather like a 1986 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.3-16 that’s estimated at £14,000-£18,000, plus a real rarity in the shape of a 1985 Renault Fuego GTS, which is offered with no reserve.

Fans of Ford Capris are especially well catered-for, with at least five examples set to go under the hammer. A 1986 2.8 Injection Special with the X-Pack bodykit and a period Turbo Technics conversion is perhaps the most striking, and is estimated at £16,000-£20,000. It joins another 2.8 Injection registered late on a E-prefix, along with a 1986 280. Earlier cars, meanwhile, include a 1973 Mk1 GT XLR with the 2.0-litre V4 motor, which is guided at £24,000-£28,000, plus a 3.0 GXL from the same year, which is estimated at £28,000-£32,000.

Elsewhere you’ll find a Crayford Mk3 Cortina, plus a couple of Lotus Esprit garage finds, one a 1982 S3 showing 23,048 miles that’s guided at £12,000-£15,000, the other an early 1976 S1 with 25,894 miles, estimated at £25,000-£30,000.

More modern performance heroes, meanwhile, include a 1995 Volvo 850 T-5R saloon guided at £14,000-£18,000 and a 2008 Jaguar XJR (X358), which is expected to fetch £18,000-£22,000. Completing a trio is a 1995 Audi RS2 Avant, which carries a tempting £20,000-£25,000 estimate.

With other entries including the genuine Reliant Regal Supervan III from the first two series of Only Fools and Horses, a 2004 Maybach 57, a 1200-mile Ford Transit and a 1961 Volvo Amazon ‘Rainbow Chaser III’ customised by Andy Saunders, this is a sale to suit all tastes.
