The town of Abingdon, the former home of MG, has been an active participant in the national Heritage Day initiative. This year had to be different so the organisers created several short films covering various aspects of local history to form part of a visual archive that will be added to in the future. Former Land Rover PR and author, Mike Gould turned his hand to his home town’s motor manufacturer, MG and visited the MG Car Club to talk to General Manager, Adam Sloman, about racing driver and MG enthusiast Ken Miles.
Miles shared Mike’s Birmingham birthplace and famously conquered Daytona, Sebring and, arguably Le Mans in 1966. Miles’ character was portrayed by Christian Bale in the 2019 movie ‘Le Mans 66’, his struggle alongside Carroll Shelby against the corporate world of the Ford Motor Company forming the central theme of the action.
