This exciting celebration of the British brand founded by automotive genius Colin Chapman will take place on Friday, June 12; the first day of the three-day CPOP event – a not-to-be-missed extravaganza of motoring and aviation that has rocketed in popularity since its inception in 2008. The selected cars will assemble in the Cholmondeley Castle courtyard and then complete two circuits of the now famous track before forming a fascinating (and doubtless colourful) display at the very heart of the activities.

Lotus race cars in competition

Examples of the Lotus marque will also be seen in competition during the weekend; not least some of the many monoposto racers operated by Classic Team Lotus, the enterprise managed by Clive Chapman (Colin’s son) in order to preserve and promote the proud racing heritage of Team Lotus.

Concessionary entry tickets for Lotus owners

In addition to the above, all Lotus-driving members of the public will be entitled to concessionary CPOP tickets throughout the weekend and directed to a special Lotus-only area of the public car park.

HLR was formed in 1974 by a group of enthusiasts who owned and drove early Lotus models and has evolved into a global club of some 600 members. Said HLR stalwart and display organiser Malcolm Ricketts: “This is a great opportunity to raise the profile of our flourishing club, while giving CPOP visitors a unique perspective of 65 years of the Lotus marque.”

Anybody looking to offer a car for HLR’s Friday display should contact Malcolm at malcolm-ricketts@btconnect.com or via 01438 820373. Any Lotus owner wanting to compete in the main event should contact the CPOP organisers direct on 01829 772432.
