Win tickets to the Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show with Discovery 2018!

This year’s Practical Classics Classic Car and Restoration Show with Discovery, is billed as the biggest yet; its organisers have added more clubs, more live working exhibits and more restoration specialists, suppliers and parts sellers than ever before/

Held at Birmingham’s NEC from Friday, March 23 to Sunday, March 25, this year’s event hosts over 150 classic motoring clubs displaying their restoration vehicles – a far cry from the30 clubs that joined in 2014. Many clubs plan to renovate, restore or outright rebuild show cars over the course of the event; tools, overalls and cups of tea will be very much in evidence.

Five years on, the show now boasts over 1,000 vehicles on display as well as lots of interactive tutorials and demonstrations to help any level of mechanic get the job done, with expert advice and specialists traders on hand in the extensive autojumble.

The show’s most popular feature is the UK’s biggest display of barn finds. Around 20 classics, rescued from sheds and outbuildings around the UK will be on show at Birmingham’s NEC. This year’s line-up includes an Austin A35, a 1960 Singer Gazelle, and a 1982 BMW 535i MSport.

Seminars and workshops aimed at those tackling their first restoration pack out a workshop itinerary; those more experienced with mechanicals and bodywork can also brush up their skills.

The Lancaster Insurance Pride of Ownership, will pit 20 finalists looking to capture the hearts and the votes of the visitors. Cars range from a 1925 Ford Model T to a 2000 Noble with every decade of vehicle in between.

The Live Stage with Discovery will tackle its biggest restoration yet – a Citroën2CV. Believed to be the oldest in existence, the team will have three days to take the car from a shell to a fully functional vehicle. They’ll be joined by TV motoring celebrities including Wheeler Dealers Mike Brewer and Ant Anstead, Salvage Hunters: Classic Cars Drew Pritchard and Paul Cowland, and Car SOS’ Fuzz Townshend.

The Sporting Bears’ Dream Rides will also return, offering a ten mile ride as a passenger in one of the cars from the Dream Rides Garage in exchange for a donation to charity.

For those looking to buy a classic, Classic Car Auctions returns after its mammoth sale last year with another bumper catalogue of everyman classics, barn finds and project cars.
