Today, Thursday, March 8, the sixth series of Car SOS gets underway – from 8pm on the National Geographic channel.
Fans of the MGA and Lancia Delta Integrale have an episode each to look forward to; presenter Tim Shaw and mechanic Fuzz Townshend also take a Peugeot 205 GTI rallying and revive a Volkswagen Karmann Ghia.
The aforementioned MGA, a 1959 model, serves as series opener – and is billed as the worst car the Car SOS team have ever taken on, having sat rotting for 40 years.
Found in Ballygowan in Northern Ireland, its owner Billy suffered a tragic loss in 2014; over the course of the episode, Fuzz and Tim bring the car back to life with the help of family friend and actor James Nesbitt.
Thursday, March 15 sees a very different modern classic put back on the road: a 1994 Lancia Delta Integrale. Emotions ran high during this restoration after the car’s owner Gary passed away over the course of filming.
2018 continues to show great promise for classic car enthusiasts; together with a new season of Car SOS, a second series of Salvage Hunters: Classic Cars is in the works, the latest Wheeler Dealers has been well received, and new episodes of Top Gear continue to impress the critics.
