The MG Car Club’s flagship MGLive! event had to be cancelled after its June 15-16 date was affected by Silverstone’s decision to carry out track maintenance. However, the club has ensured fans of the famous octagon that they needn’t be sat idle that weekend by opening up the doors of its Kimber House headquarters, based close to the location of the old factory in the Oxfordshire town of Abingdon.

Scheduled for the same June 15-16 date, the club’s Open Weekend will give enthusiasts the chance to explore Kimber House, find out more about the MGCC and take in some of the local drives – all for free. Kimber House is effectively an on-site museum, with plenty of memorabilia, a club shop and an excellent archive facility. Being based right outside the factory gates close to the old admin block, every MG built at Abingdon will have once driven past the club’s front door. MG owners attending over the weekend will be invited to follow the same tracks by taking in some of the old factory test routes.

MGCC Brand Communications Manager, Jade Beckett, said: “The MG Car Club is really excited about our first ever Open Weekend. Everybody is welcome – MG owners, club members, other classic drivers; we want anyone who is interested to come along…”

Kimber House will be open between 10.30am and 16.00 on both days. Tickets can be purchased by heading to the club’s website and following the links.
