Hundreds of cars and thousands of visitors enjoyed the sun at the Classic Ford Show on 12 May

Returning to the South of England Showground in Ardingly on Sunday, 12 May, the Classic Ford Show enjoyed fantastic success on a warm and sunny day. With over 700 cars and 3300 total visitors, Classic Ford Show broke its own previous records for the venue, following a successful post-Pandemic return in 2022.

As ever, the show prided itself on celebrating the clubs and people that made it possible, handing out awards throughout the day – FordTEC were awarded Most Varied Club Stand, while South London Retro Power took home Best Regional Club, YouTuber Marcus Hayes’ stand won Best Large Club Stand and the Ford Anglia 105E Owners Club were awarded Best Themed Display with their eclectic mix of standard, restored and modified Anglias, before they nominated their admin, John for the Club Hero Award.

The range of cars on display from the numerous clubs was of a remarkable standard and variety – everything from a Mk1 Escort RS1600 that was nut-and-bolt restored to original specification, to a wide-arch Anglia 105E with a Honda S2000 F20 engine, eye-catching combination of a Mk4 Transit beavertail with a Mk1 Escort Van on the back, and an eclectic mix of all generations of Ford Capri in the 55th Anniversary display.

FordTEC won the Most Varied Club Stand award at the 2024 Classic Ford Show

Classic Ford editorial team chose their Top 10, which were awarded rosettes and invited to discuss their cars in front of the crowds and complete a celebratory ‘parade lap’ around the show.

As is traditional for Classic Ford Show, The Great Unveiling returned, showcasing four never-before-seen projects for the first time – a fully-restored Mk2 Escort Mexico, Mark Lane’s Toyota 2JZ-powered Mk2 Granada, Mike Wilson’s Bubble-arched and Zetec-powered Mk1 Escort and Dan Thorne’s Mk2 Fiesta (apparently colour-matched to a strikingly pink piece of kitchen cutlery…) were met with strong reception from crowds.

Throw in a display of iconic previous Great Unveiling cars, the Top 50 display of hand-picked builds and BMX stunt displays throughout the day, and Classic Ford Show 2024 was judged to be an overwhelming success. Dates for the 2025 show are being discussed, keep up to date at events.classics.world.co.uk
