Currently underway is the Carrera Iberia event run by Rally the Globe. This represents the debut classic car rally event for the new club, one which was established by regular historic rally competitors.

Having started from Santander in northern Spain, the convoy of classic sports cars will by now be nearly at their finishing point, Vilamoura on the southern coast of Portugal. Entrants include 1920s Bentleys, 1950s Mercedes-Benzes, and plenty more iconic sports cars spanning a 50-year range of vintages.

Classic car rally

This particular classic car rally was carefully devised to run along roads with smooth tarmac, despite being focused on relatively unknown scenic routes, so as to suit a certain set of vehicles. Visits to race tracks along the way have also been included. Future events will be of different styles and road surfaces, including an East African Southern Cross Safari route in February 2020, a Celtic Challenge in Britain the following April, then an even more ambitious Round the World trip in 2020/2021.

More information is available from the Rally the Globe website – www.rallytheglobe.com – including the event diary up to 2023 and further details on the current Carrera Iberia event. Limited places in future events are still available.
