The Ford Capri will be the star turn at the 19th Wonderland Classic and Sports Car Festival, with a special tribute to the iconic British fastback’s golden jubilee to take place as part of the multi-marque event on June 29-30.
Taking place at Ferry Farm in Hoveringham near Nottingham, the festival will feature a special ‘Capri 50 Years’ celebration timeline. This will transport visitors back to 1969 and run through the Mk1, Mk2 and Mk3 eras until the end of production in 1986, then onwards to 2019 with Capri restorations, modifications and rebuilds. A RS3100, a Perana, Broadspeed and Zakspeed cars, a JPS edition, a Tickford and a 280 Brooklands are just some of the Capris planned for the display.
But that’s not all. The family-friendly show will also feature a variety of classics, sports car legends, American muscle and custom builds, together with vehicles of special interest including kit cars, military vehicles and commercials.
Proceedings get under way from midday on the Saturday, with live classic rock/pop music in the evening, a disco, bar and a prize package for the ‘Car of the Night’. Sunday will also play host to a show and shine for pre-2011 vehicles, with traders and food outlets on hand throughout the weekend and camping available on both the Friday and Saturday night.
