Winner of the Lancaster Insurance Pride of Ownership ‘Best of the Best’ competition announced

This year’s winner of the Lancaster Insurance Pride of Ownership ‘Best of the Best’ competition has been announced as the Classic Motor Show gets underway at the NEC in Birmingham.

Colin Fidler’s and his 1956 Austin A35 took the grand prize on Friday morning, beating an impressive array of finalists – all of whom were previous winners themselves, selected by public vote from a longlist of 14 previous Pride of Ownership winners.

The Best of the Best finalists were Simon McNamara’s 1983 VW Golf GTi Mk1 (which won in autumn 2017), James Cribb’s 1989 Austin Metro City (autumn 2016), Paul Clappison’s 1972 MGB GT (spring 2018), Ted Brookes’ 1961 Morris Minor Million (autumn 2019) and the ultimate champion Colin Fidler’s 1956 Austin A35 (spring 2024).

Yvonne Gosney from Lancaster Insurance said: “The Pride of Ownership display has been a real highlight for enthusiasts over the last decade and continues to be so. What better way to celebrate the passion and heart-warming stories we’ve seen in that time by showcasing the ‘Best of the Best’ on our stand voted by the community.”

Visitors to the show can see all five cars on the Lancaster Insurance stand at the entrance to Hall 1.
