Following a partnership agreement signed with the Sauber team last year, the Alfa Romeo name is to return to an F1 team for the 2019 season.
Back in July 2017 the Sauber team announced that it would be renewing its Ferrari engine deal from 2018 but later announced that it had entered into a technical and commercial partnership with Alfa Romeo under the name Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team. For the 2019 F1 season the team will be racing under the title Alfa Romeo Racing, representing a return to top level competition for the first time since 1985 when it powered the Benetton team with 1.5-litre turbo V8 engines. Drivers will be Kimi Räikkönen and Antonio Giovinazzi.
