Across ten of the UK’s biggest cities outside of London, the number of parking tickets being issued has reached over 791,000 in a year. A recent study conducted by Nationwide Cars has identified which cities in the UK have issued the most fines to drivers from the beginning of April 2017 to the end of March 2018.

The city councils of ten major UK cities (Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Nottingham, Newcastle, Leicester and Bradford) were contacted under the Freedom of Information Act to ascertain which were causing the biggest headache for drivers. Manchester, Edinburgh and Brighton city councils did not respond to the request and were omitted.

Birmingham, Glasgow and Leeds were found to be the top three cities, outside London, to dish out parking fines. Birmingham claimed the top spot with a whopping 130,225 fines issued across the year, with Glasgow close behind with 125,505. Rounding out the top ten is Bradford, just lower than ninth-placed Cardiff City Council, which issued 55,669 fines.
