Mile of Minis sees 150 cars take to the road countryside in aid of cost-of-living charity Buttle UK
Despite poor weather conditions, the annual Mile of Minis event saw 150 Minis both classic and modern journey take to the roads of Oxfordshire and Warwickshire on April 28.
The event was run for the third consecutive year by the organisers of The Italian Job charity tour, raising much-needed funds for Buttle UK – a charity dedicated to helping families struggling with the cost-of-living crisis.
The day kicked off at the MINI Plant in Cowley, Oxford, before embarking on a driving adventure. Participants received a special Italian Job route book, ensuring they stayed on course for the day.
The final destination was JLR Classic, the renowned classic and works division of Jaguar Land Rover, located south of Coventry. Teams got the opportunity to put brand loyalty aside and explore a collection classic Jaguars and Land Rovers.
Freddie St George, organiser, said on the day, “The Mile of MINIs event is rapidly gaining popularity as a staple on the annual Mini events calendar. Today, we witnessed an impressive turnout from both classic and modern Mini enthusiasts here in Oxford. It’s truly remarkable!”
Each participant was tasked with raising at least £30. Since 2018, the Italian Job events have raised more than £300,000 for Buttle UK – over £35,000 alone from the Mile of Mini event. That’s part of an impressive total of over £3 million collected for children living in poverty over the past 33 years.
The Italian Job’s flagship event is an awe-inspiring six-night road trip through Italy, taking place in October. Recently honoured with the ‘Best Event’ award at the 2024 National Car Club Awards, this journey, inspired by the 1969 Michael Caine film The Italian Job’ offers a glimpse of the real Italy away from the tourist crowds while revisiting locations from the iconic movie.
