That helps to explain this particular ad, with its proud headline boasting that the latest Minx was ‘the car the world has chosen for its own’.

The advert also quoted various happy overseas owners, including Mr A Fischer from Zurich: ‘Our good and faithful Minx performs beautifully and climbs hills like mad.’

As for Mr Hugh O’Neil from Ireland, he was particularly pleased with the Minx’s ‘smooth running, perfect balance, exceptional comfort, and power and reliability under all tests!’
