Morris Leslie got its 2026 calendar of classic auctions underway at its Perth base with a busy sale in front of a bumper crowd on February 21

Morris Leslie’s first classic auction of the year featured an intriguing balance of projects, traditional classics and more modern vehicles, as well as bikes and classic trucks.

Among the more traditional entries was a 1974 Jensen Interceptor, which carried a very reasonable £18,500-£21,000 guide price and went on to sell for £22,252. Elsewhere, a very smart VW Beetle 1200 that was imported from Japan a decade ago and was offered with no reserve fetched £7525. And to continue the people’s car theme, a custom 1978 Mini Clubman 1100 changed hands just below its guide for £7780.

Staying with the established models, a fellow BL product in the shape of a 1972 Austin 1100 that appeared in the 2025 film ‘I Swear’ was snapped up for a modest £2050, and a trio of MGB GTs included a 1977 ‘rubber bumper’ car that has been retro-fitted with chrome bumpers, which sold for £7310. A 1965 Morris Minor 1000 surpassed expectations by going on to record a £3135 sale, and a 1954 Riley RMA did likewise by selling for £3630.

Fords were also numerous, A 1973 four-door MK1 Escort that had been imported from South Africa sold for £6450, and one of the final Mk2 Granadas from 1985 easily beat its £2500-£3500 guide to change hands for £4180. In addition, a 2001 Puma with the 1.6-litre engine was snapped up for £1950 and a 2008 Focus ST-3 made £5950.

Meanwhile, from the Vauxhall stable came a 1988 Nova L in five-door hatch guise, which showed a mere 21,500 miles and sold for a robust £4290. Another smart 1980s entry was a 1986 Peugeot 309, which beat its lower guide to change hands for £2860, and there was also a 1985 Austin Metro City, which beat its upper estimate to sell for £3355. Just ticking into the 1990s, meanwhile, was a 1991 Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk2, which surpassed its £4750 upper guide to sell for £5375.

With other sales included a £150 Trabant 601 Kombi, an FX4 Taxi for just £1000 and various emerging modern classics, this was a sale that covered a wide range of genres. For the full list of results and details of feature sales, see morrisleslie.com
