Classic Car Auctions enjoyed another successful sale at Wheeler Dealer Live, raising thousands for charity following the Bicester Motion fire
The sale from Classic Car Auctions by Iconic Auctioneers at Wheeler Dealer Live assembled a sizeable and eclectic mix of cars and automobilia, many finding new homes for impressive sums. Japanese cars were in demand, highlights including an uber cool Golden Bronza 1980 Datsun 280ZX that sported the sought-after manual gearbox and sold for £11,250.
A 2009 Honda S2000 from the final year of production changed hands for £11,475, while a rare lightweight 1998 Mitsubishi GTO MR was snapped up for £15,469. A WRC-Edition 1994 Toyota Celica GT4 was sold for £7313, while a pair of Subaru Imprezas proved popular – an honest, tidy and unmodified 1998 Turbo 2000 was snapped up for £3938, while a two-owner, 2001 example of the legendary P1 ultimately earned a £23,063 sale price.
Convertibles of all shapes and sizes proved popular in the sunshine, from a 1958 Morgan Plus 4 4-Seater that was snapped up for £8438, to an even quirkier 1973 Renault 4 Plein Air Conversion that found a new home for £9563, sitting alongside exotica like a 2002 Aston Martin DB7 V12 Volante that sold for £10,688 and gorgeous 1975 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spider Veloce which fetched £23,063. With British sports cars old and slightly newer represented by the 1971 Triumph TR6 CP that sold for £16,313 and 1992 Lotus Elan SE for £5513 respectively sitting alongside the 1979 Mercedes R107 350SL which earned a £9562 sale price, it’s clear the drop-tops were in demand.
The Jaguar contingent was strong too, a 1991 Jaguar XJ-S Coupe in rare 3.6-litre manual guise selling for £13,781, before a duo of supercharged saloons – a 1997 X300 XJR and a 2004 S-Type R – sold for rather bargainous sums of £2081 and £2250 respectively. With luxury fanciers also tempted by a 1967 Daimler 205 V8 at £4917 and a truly imposing 2006 Rolls-Royce Phantom VII with RREC Concours-winning history that sold for £76,500, the variety was impressive. Indeed, quirky lots like a 1971 Bond Bug 700ES that sold for £7313 and a 2000 VW Lupo bearing extensive graffiti following its appearance on KSI’s ‘Sidemen’ YouTube channel which fetched a remarkable £5625 sale price completed one of the most diverse auctions we’ve seen so far this year.
A number of charity lots were also included, raising money for The Fire Fighters Charity following the recent tragic fire at Bicester Motion. A total of £6500 was raised from special lots and proceeds from catalogue sales.
