British brands will feature heavily when Manor Park Classics hosts its next classic car auction at its Runcorn base on September 6 – but with some intriguing twists among them
There’s no shortage of interesting cars in the lot list for Manor Park’s next sale. The idea of a BMC ADO16 is familiar of course, but this sale will include a 1973 Austin Victoria DeLuxe – a very rare Spanish market variant developed by Authi – and a 1975 Austin Apache, which also uses the same 1100/1300 platform but was a locally styled version built for the South African market. In addition, you’ll also find a 1971 Austin Kimberley X6, an Australian-designed six-cylinder saloon based on the ADO17 1800/2200 ‘Landcrab’. All three cars are offered without reserve, and are bound to drum up plenty of interest.
If you prefer your Landcrab to UK spec, then you’re also catered for, albeit with another twist. An unrestored ex-Works rally 1968 Austin 1800 is still in its 1970 London to Mexico World Cup Rally livery, and is estimated at £25,000-£30,000. It’s joined by various Minis and MGs from the period, but also a 1969 Ford Cortina Alan Mann Tribute, which replicates the contemporary red and gold circuit racers and is estimated at £8000-£10,000.
Elsewhere, a 1937 Rolls-Royce Phantom III that’s been in the same family business for 75 years could be a potential headliner at an estimated £30,000-£34,000, as could a 1936 Bentley 4.25 Litre Tourer guided at £50,000-£55,000. In addition, a 1980 Bentley T2 is estimated at £20,000-£22,00, and a 1997 Turbo R LWB is offered with no reserve. Further prestige comes in the form of a 1950 Jaguar MkV 3.5 Litre Saloon expected to sell for £15,000-£17,000, while a 2004 Aston Martin Vanquish S could go for as much as £40,000.
Triumphs feature in abundance, with no fewer than three Dolomite Sprints, plus a genuine and very rare TR7 Sprint pre-production press car, which is estimated at £13,000-£15,000. You’ll also find a TR7 hillclimb car and a very smart red GT6.
There are plenty of Fords too, with a Mk2 Escort 1600 Sport joined by a very smart Mk4 XR3i and a 1990 XR3i Cabriolet finished in Flambeau Red over Moonstone Blue, which is guided at £5000-£7000. A couple of Capris are also included, while a 1987 Sierra RS Cosworth is offered without reserve.
Continuing the 1980s vibe is a smart 1989 Peugeot 309 GTi that’s recently been restored with a glass-out respray, while other lots of interest include a 1960 Auto Union 1000 Station Wagon, a couple of TVRs and a 1953 GMC 3100 Pick-up with modern underpinnings.
