CCA is set to host another varied sale that will also serve as tribute to those who died in the Bicester Motion fire
The next sale Classic Car Auctions by Iconic Auctioneers sale will take place as part of the inaugural Wheeler Dealer Live event at Bicester Motion on June 1, with an eclectic catalogue of entries. Viewing will be available during the show’s opening times, as well as on the afternoon of Saturday May 31.
Following the tragic fire at the venue, CCA released a statement confirming that the sale, together with Wheeler Dealer Live, will be going ahead, albeit with some adjustments.
“The event will now also serve as a heartfelt tribute to those who lost their lives,” CCA confirmed, “and together with the wider automotive community, we will honour their memory through a number of commemorative acts:
- A three-minute silence at 11:00 am, observed across the venue
- Charity Auction with all proceeds donated evenly to The Fire Fighters Charity, and a second charity to be chosen by the family of the late David Chester
- A designated remembrance area, offering visitors space for quiet reflection and to pay their respects
- Iconic Auctioneers will donate 50% of their catalogue sales, and two tickets to the Silverstone Festival in August
- Further tributes are being discussed internally with the Fire and Rescue Service and the families affected”
Lots to watch
Performance cars make up the majority of lots, including a handsome 2003 Porsche 996 Turbo with just 45,000 miles on the clock and a £30,000-£36,000 estimate. Another German in the form of a 1999 Mercedes E55 AMG with just one owner and an impressive 220,000 miles to its name is guided at just £3000-£4000, while a 1997 example of its Jaguar XJR rival temptingly carries no reserve.
If you prefer your fast Brits a little older, a 1960 MGA roadster built to ‘fast road’ spec by specialist, Oselli, is ready to be enjoyed and expected to sell for £15,000-£18,000, while the plethora of fast Fords on offer includes an unmodified, 34,000-mile 2010 Focus RS Mk2 with a £28,000-£34,000 estimate and a seemingly immaculate 1983 Escort RS1600i, complete with Ford RS Accessories spotlights and a £20,000-£28,000 estimate. You’ll also find a rare Mk1 Fiesta SuperSport.
Japanese performance icons include a 1997 Toyota Celica GT4 with subtle tuning upgrades boosting power to 291bhp, which is guided at £15,000-£20,000, plus a 1998 Subaru Impreza Turbo 2000 that could be yours for as little as £6000-£8000. With French favourites like a 1992 Peugeot 309 GTI guided at £12,000-£15,000 and a one-owner 1990 Renault 5 GT Turbo estimated at £14,000-£18,000 joining a loud and proud 2005 Pilgrim Cobra that carries a £28,000-£32,000 guide, there’s something for everyone.
If luxury is your preference, a stunning Sherwood Green 1996 Bentley Turbo R LWB is guided at just £8000-£10,000, while a 1998 example of its Arnage Green Label successor is expected to sell for £10,000-£12,000, and a 1976 Daimler Double Six is said to require some work, but could be a fruitful project with its £12,000-£15,000 estimate.
Not everything is exotic and sporty, however – a 1997 Ford Mondeo Mk2 1.8GLX Estate with just 11,000 miles to its name is offered without reserve, while notable further entices include a 1967 VW Beetle Cabriolet with matching trailer from the collection of chef Jamie Oliver, which is estimated at £15,000-£20,000. With a 1971 Bond Bug 700ES that’s estimated at £8000-£10,000 and a charming 1973 Renault 4 Plein Air guided at £10,000-£15,000 also vying to be the biggest head-turner, there’s surely something for all tastes.
