1938 Austin 7 Ruby De Luxe from the final year of production. This charming little Ruby looks very smart in Burgundy with black wings and a matching red interior. The Ruby has been the subject of much care and attention in recent years with the main body paint having been refreshed, wheels powder coated, the fitment of a reconditioned engine and carburettor, new radiator, starter motor, fan and top assembly, battery, speedo cable and carpets. The interior is in very nice order with the seats having been re-trimmed at some point in the past. The cloth headlining is new as are the door cards and the Pytchley sliding sunroof slides open with ease. The windscreen opens to provide additional ventilation. While the burgundy paint on the body has been recently refreshed there are some paint imperfections on the wing edges. The Austin is an excellent starter. Direction indicators have been fitted and also stainless steel bumpers. The file accompanying the car includes an old RF60 log book dating back to 1951, an original handbook, maintenance notes, invoices and some old MoT certificates. On our test drive the car performed well with the diminutive engine proving very willing. The clutch is progressive for an Austin 7 and the four speed gearbox changes well with synchromesh on all gears except first. All the instruments work and the ammeter shows the dynamo is charging.
