1930 Alvis 12/50 Wide Bodied Two Seater and Dickey by Cross & Ellis. After a hiatus in 1929, when Alvis concentrated on their Silver Eagle and Front Wheel Drive models, the legendary 12/50 was reintroduced for the 1930 season, with some subtle updates as the TJ Series. This example was dispatched from the factory on 10th November 1930, registered on 5th December 1930 and sold through the well-known London Alvis agents, Charles Follet Ltd. to a Mr Cassie of Edgeware, Middlesex. It was acquired in 2012 in a dismantled state by the last owner, who fully restored the car to the lovely condition that you see it in now. Smartly presented in yellow with black wings the Alvis boasts a fully reupholstered interior and new double duck weather equipment. There is coconut matting on the floor. The brightwork is all in excellent condition. The engine starts instantly and the car is a joy to drive having the typical Alvis 12/50 attributes of willing performance and excellent steering, handling and braking – very much the archetypical Vintage sports car. The clutch stop is adjusted correctly to enable rapid upchanges. Under the bonnet you will find a new bulkhead, new radiator and an electric fan. The car has been completely rewired to a modern standard. It is also fitted with a stainless steel silencer and tailpipe. There is a vast quantity of spares with the car including many hard to find items. There is also a large file with the car containing history of the car, photos of the restoration, receipts and an RF60 buff log book dating back to 1956. Not so long ago a 12/50 in this condition would have been twice the price. It is now a much more affordable route into the joys of 12/50 ownership.
