1956 Jaguar XK 140 Fixed Head Coupe. Jaguar Bronze with biscuit and tan leather upholstery. Newly introduced for 1955, the Jaguar XK140 was broadly similar to, though more refined than, its sensational XK120 predecessor, major engineering changes being confined to the repositioning of the engine 3" further forward and the adoption of rack-and-pinion steering. The suspension and brakes remained much as before, though with stiffer torsion bars at the front and telescopic shock absorbers replacing lever type at the rear. Outwardly the newcomer was distinguishable by its revised radiator grille, rear lights incorporating flashing indicators and larger bumpers, the latter adopted to withstand the cut and thrust of urban parking. This absolutely beautiful 1956 XK140 started life as a 3. 4 SE and was supplied to its first owner who was based in Chicago, Illinois. The car made its way back to the U.K when acquired by XK marque specialist Leaping Cats. The car was completely stripped, fully rebuilt and restored and was significantly upgraded by Leaping Cats. The result is the most beautiful XK 140 we have seen with the attention to detail second to none. During the rebuild many improvements and upgrades were added, it features its original engine, increased in capacity to 3. 8, a 5-speed gearbox was installed along withindependent rear suspension, servo-assisted disc brakes all-round as well as power steering. This makes the car a far more modern driving experience than that of a standard XK140 and is absolutely ideal for touring holidays and weekends away such as Goodwood, Silverstone Classic etc. If you are looking for an outstanding XK that is effectively a new car then please make an enquiry.
