In September 1986, Audi released a new Typ 89 Audi 80 for the 1987 model year on the European market and introduced it elsewhere within a year. It was based on a new platform that broke the relationship between the 80 and the Volkswagen Passat, the corresponding third generation of which used the transverse-engined Volkswagen B3 platform, whilst Audi stuck with the longitudinal front wheel drive layout for the B3-series 80. Production codes were Typ 89 from 1987 to 1989, and Typ 8A from 1990 onward (in line with a restructuring of many VW platform designations). It introduced a new aerodynamic look and a fully zinc-coated galvanised bodyshell. This fabulous Audi has covered just 44,000 miles from new. Supplied new on 1st August 1988 for the new F registration by Malton Autopoint VAG of North Yorkshire to Country Property Group. It has been meticulously cared for over the years and as you can see presents beautifully today. It still retains all of its original features and the huge history file that accompanies the car shows no expense has been spared in the upkeep. As well as a large file of bills, invoices and old mot certificates is the original dealer wallet with owners manual and hand book as well as a fully stamped service book and 2 keys, there is even an original showroom brochure and Haynes manual and the original dealer sticker still adorns the rear window. After this the book was not stamped but the file contains all of the invoices for servicing right up to date and is one of the best histories we have seen. Lots of further work has been carried out in the past three years which includes all fuel hoses replaced, new aerial, new alternator, new front discs and pads, new rear brake shoes, wheel cylinders and brake lines, new boot struts, wheels blasted and powder coated and fitted with 5 new Avon tyres, new Indicator repeater lights, new battery, new coolant hoses and coolant. Running and driving just as well as it looks it is a car that really belies its age and it was a joy around the lanes when we took the car out with lots of admiring looks along the way. Now ready to be enjoyed in new hands it will grace any classic car meet. A fresh mot will be applied upon sale for your own peace of mind. Absolutely any inspection is welcome.
