The Vauxhall Victor FC Series is one of those cars that, although a popular buy in its day, is now a seriously rare sight on Britain’s roads. So rediscovering the Victor 101-Series in this classic brochure from 1967 brought back a few memories.
Available in both saloon and estate guises, almost 220,000 examples of the 1964-67 Victor were produced in total, though the vast majority have long since succumbed to the ravages of rust. That’s a shame, as these 1594cc (70bhp) Victors were very likeable cars; they were also significant for being the last of the pushrod-engined Victor line, prior to the launch of the all-new overhead-camshaft FD Series in 1967.
This particular Victor 101 brochure is from the model’s final year of production – and is a real cracker. The saloon was being boasted about for its “looks, space, comfort, ride smoothness”, while the estate was described as a supreme “let’s-get-on-it-with load carrier.”
