VolksWorld Show returned on March 22, basking in sunshine and full to the brim with high quality VWs
The event was a major success, with some 4000 visitors descending on West Sussex. Among the highlights was the renowned VolksWorld Concours, featuring standout cars including a Beetle shipped in from Las Vegas, a duo of gold metalflake Beach Buggies and the only four-door Beetle in Europe, built by coachbuilder Rometsch. Judges ultimately awarded first prize to overall winner Mark Paine’s 1950 Beetle – such was the calibre of entries, first and second place were separated by 0.75 points.
More than 600 cars were displayed across dozens of club stands, with awards presented for Best Aircooled and Best Club Stand, which went to London Dub Club. Modified VW fans gravitated towards the ‘Back To ’89’ display, celebrating Beetles, Buses and Type 2s styled in the popular 1980s ‘Cal Look’ fashion, while Air Cooled Youth proved there’s still an appetite for VWs from young people, showcasing an impressive variety of cars. The unveiling of the unique ‘Thing’ lowrider from sponsor Heritage Parts also proved a crowd favourite.
Other attractions included the ever-popular Swap Meet, a dedicated kids’ entertainment zone, and a lively campsite atmosphere the night before, complete with an on-site DJ. Altogether, VolksWorld Show made for a superb season opener and a fitting debut at its new venue. The event will return in 2027 – keep an eye on VolksWorld’s social media channels for updates.
