WB & Sons is gearing up for another varied sale full of interesting classic and modern classic lots

WB & Sons’ regular auctions return with a July 19 sale at the firm’s Newcastle upon Tyne base. There were already 113 entries at the time of writing, with more set to be added ahead of the big day.

As is often the case, hot Fords look set to play an important role. A 1991 Fiesta RS Turbo in Mercury Grey could be the star of the show at an estimated £15,000-£20,000, but there’s also a 1985 Escort RS Turbo S1 and not one but two examples of the Mk3 Escort RS1600i – both from 1983 and both black. Elsewhere, a 1983 Ford Capri 2.8 Injection is guided by £10,000-£14,000, and a Ford Racing Puma dating from 2000 is estimated at £14,000-£18,000. For those preferring an older Blue Oval, meanwhile, a rare Dagenham-built Model 48 Saloon from 1936 is guided at a modest £5000-£7000.

You’ll also find a host of traditional Brits. We particularly like a 1960 Austin Seven, which is a superbly restored example of an early Mini and looks great in Speedwell Blue, justifying its £14,000-£16,000 guide. A wide selection of MGs features an MGB LE roaster estimated at £7000-£9000, with £10,000-£14,000 expected to be enough to secure a tidy 1969 MGC roadster. There’s a wide range of Triumphs too, with a very tidy 1973 2000 saloon that’s guided at £5000-£7000 joined by a rare Dolomite 1500 SE from 1980, which is expected to fetch £5000-£6000. These are bookended by a pretty 1959 TR3A that could sell for as much as £24,000, and a genuine TR8 imported from the States, which is guided at £8000-£10,000.

As for Continental classics, Italy is particularly well represented. A 2002 Alfa Romeo Spider with the desirable 3.0-litre V6 is guided at £6000-£7000, but otherwise it’s all about diminutive entries. These include a right-hand drive Fiat 500L from 1972, also guided at £6000-£7000, plus a 1991 Panda that shows just 35,000 miles and is guided at £4000-£6000. More unusual is a 1976 Autobianchi A112 Abarth competition car, which is predicted to sell for £14,000-£16,000.

Further performance models include a 2005 Honda S2000 GT guided at an attractive £7500-£8500, a pair of 2004 Porsche 911s in Carrera 4S guise – one a convertible, one a coupe – and two BMW Z3 2.8s. But if you like to be different, you may be tempted by a 1985 Citroën CX25 GTI Turbo, guided at £10,000-£12,000.
