The first Charterhouse classic car sale of the year looks set embody the phrase ‘something for everyone’ when it takes place on March 27
Everything from imposing pre-war machinery to modern classics is set to go under the hammer during Charterhouse’s first sale of 2025, which takes place at the Haynes Motor Museum in Somerset tomorrow, March 27.
Fans of iconic Germans have plenty to choose from, a highlight being a 2003 Porsche 996-generation 911 Carrera 2 in non-sunroof coupe form with a manual gearbox, which is guided at just £11,500–12,500. Fans of older Porsches might fancy a 1988 928 S4 in Guards Red with a smart black leather interior that’s estimated at £8000-£12,000, while a 1989 ‘small bumper’ VW Golf GTI Mk2 16V that house a rare Oettinger-tuned engine is accordingly guided at £10,000–15,000. There’s also a 2003 BMW Z4 2.5 with a modest £2500–3500 estimate, while a 1993 Mercedes 300GE looks smart following a glass-out respray and could sell for £20,000–25,000.
If you prefer British classics, numerous Morris Minors feature, including a 1956 Series 2 split-screen saloon in Clarendon Grey with a very tempting £2500–3500 guide price, and a lovely 1965 Traveller for an estimated £3000–4000. A 1964 Lotus Elan DHC could be a very fruitful, if extensive, restoration project and is temptingly offered without reserve, but if you want to drive an Elan immediately, a stunning 1971 S4 DHC that looks fantastic on Minilite-style wheels following a chassis-off restoration looks to be well worthy of its £22,000–24,000 estimate. The sports car contingent continues with two Triumph TR6s: a red 1974 right-hand drive converted import and a 45,000-mile 1973 Magenta example compete with hardtop are guided at £12,000–14,000 and £14,000–16,000 respectively. Alongside, a charming Clipper Blue 1951 MG TD fresh from a sympathetic restoration could be yours for £10,000–14,000, and you’ll also find two red MGB roadsters, a Land Rover Series 3 and two late MPi Rover Minis.
Elsewhere, the bustling pre-war contingent includes a 1928 Oakland Landau Coupe, a 1934 Austin 12/6 Harley, a 1924 Belsize, a 1928 Panhard & Levassor X57 Tourer, a 1930 Alvis TJ 12/50 and a 1939 Austin 8. There are some real rarities and oddities too, ranging from a charming 1984 Renault 4 Fourgonette van with a lovely patina and tempting lack of reserve, to a 1957 Hotchkiss M201 Jeep and an ultra-rare 1966 Panhard 24BT, both also offered without reserve.
