Historics is back with another bumper sale in Berkshire on July 20. Here’s what to expect

Historics returns to action on July 20 with ‘The Summer Serenade’ at its own Windsorview Lakes venue in Datchet, Berkshire, which is located just 1.5 miles from junction 5 on the M4. At the time of writing there were 186 entries consigned, with plenty of intriguing cars to be offered.

Low-mileage classics are a prominent theme, not least an immaculate Triumph Dolomite Sprint that’s believed to have covered just 3725 miles and is said to be one of best on the market, hence its £26,000-£30,000 estimate. You’ll also find a 1992 Ford Escort RS Cosworth LUX, which has covered a mere 17,596 miles and carries a guide of £72,000-£85,000.

Elsewhere, there’s a 374-mile Lamm Mini Cabriolet, plus a 2003 Aston Martin DB7 GT that was a recent Aston Martin Owners’ Club concours winner at Sandringham House. One of just 85 UK supplied DB7 GTs, it has covered a mere 23,600 miles and is estimated at £42,000-£49,000.

Other notable performance-oriented lots include a 1992 Vauxhall Lotus Carlton, boasting the last ever Lotus reworked 2969cc, 24-valve straight-six engine, supplied under warranty in 1996. It could make as much as £90,000, but a comparatively modest £18,000-£23,000 is expected to be enough for a 1996 Subaru Impreza Series McRae, which is number 170 out of 200 cars produced.

As you would expect of a Historics sale, exotic brands feature heavily. At least six Ferraris will be entered, while Porsche is represented with the usual gusto. The headliner is a fully loaded ‘special wishes’ 930 Turbo dating from 1983, which is guided at £111,000-£130,000, but we were drawn to a replica of the 914/6 GT race car, which is estimated at £68,000-£78,000. Almost a dozen cars from fellow Stuttgart brands Mercedes will also feature, while the array of prestige Brits stretches from an ADO16-based Princess 1100 to no fewer than 12 Bentleys.

Remarkably, three of the latter – a 1937 4 1/4 ‘Woody’ Shooting Brake, a 1963 S3 Continental by Park Ward and a 1990 Eight – are offered with no reserve. They join a remarkable quote of no-reserve consignments, with the list also including a Lotus Elan M100 prototype from 1986, a John Cooper Works-tuned MINI Cooper S, a BMW Z3 3.0, a Maserati 3200 GT, various Porsches including a Cayman, a Mk2 VW Golf GTI 16-valve, a Mk4 Ford Escort XR3i and a V8-powered MG ZT-T 260.
