Classic Car Auctions (CCA) returns to the NEC for the Restoration Show this weekend, with sales on both days packed with enticing lots
Fords have broken records at the NEC previously, and there are plenty in this sale. The sole Ford Capri Mk1 V8 conversion produced by Super Speed of Essex is fresh from a sympathetic restoration and boasts lots of provenance, justifying a £30,000–40,000 guide. Two Mk3 Capris are also on offer, one a 1987 2.8i Injection Special with just 32,000 miles estimated at £20,000–25,000, the other an ultra-rare 1984 Tickford Turbo, which is guided at £45,000–50,000 and presents extremely well following an engine fire and subsequent restoration. A pair of Mk2 Fiesta XR2s also feature; the first a black 1985 car showing just 30,500 miles estimated at £10,000–12,000, the second a Rosso Red 1987 example in largely original condition and with just 59,000 miles to its name, which is expected to fetch £16,000–20,000.
We were stunned by the number of rare BMWs on offer – a 1995 E32 750iL V12 was built for the Diplomatic Service and despite requiring recommissioning, could be a bargain with a £6000–10,000 guide and no reserve. A 2003 E65 760Li with extensive AC Schnitzer upgrades will divide opinion, but no doubt stands out and earns a £12,000–15,000 guide, while a near-extinct 1985 E28 M535i carries a £16,000–20,000 estimate following recent recommissioning. For something truly different, a 2001 E46 Alpine B3 3.3 Convertible offers a collectible tuned example of the 3 Series drop-top with a £12,000–15,000 guide.
Hot hatchback fanciers have plenty to choose from, including a 1990 Peugeot 205 GTI 1.6 in Miami Blue with a £14,000–18,000 estimate, a 1996 Renault Clio Williams 3 guided at £10,000-£12,000 and a 1990 Lancia Delta Integrale 8V, which sports Evoluzione bodywork and a rare black leather interior to earn a £20,000-£25,000 guide, but ultimately is offered with no reserve.
There are humbler classics offered too, including a 1964 MG 1100 with a remarkable 12,000 miles on the clock that carries a £10,000–12,000 estimate, plus a right-hand drive 1972 Fiat 500L that looks lovely in baby blue and is estimated at £10,000-£12,000. A 1959 Austin Mini Mk1 built in South Africa shows just 14,000 miles and is guided at £19,000–22,000, while 1 1995 Rover 111i could offer a low-mileage starter classic, with 14,700 miles and a £2000–3000 guide.
