The final WB & Sons sale of 2023 didn’t disappoint, with plenty of bidders on more than 160 cars, bikes and automobilia lots

From the very first lot at the latest WB & Son sale, 90s sports cars enjoyed success – a 1991 Lotus Elan M100 showing just 33,000 miles was snapped up for £4088, whereas a charmingly diminutive 1994 Suzuki Cappuccino sold for £3542. Other Japanese favourites to do well included a 1995 Honda Accord Coupe which, complete with its immense amount of history, beat its £2000-£4000 guide price to fetch £4360.

British classics are always popular at a WB sale and this one was no exception – a 1975 MGB GT Jubilee sold for a bargain £2452, whereas a 1934 Austin Seven Box Saloon, complete with original brown logbook, managed £6100. Those fancying something slightly more modern but still small had several Minis to choose from – a 1987 Mayfair with just 12,000 miles from new sold for £6268, whereas a 1994 Japanese-import Rover Cooper boasting air conditioning and just 46,000 miles managed to achieve a £7085 sale price. Elsewhere, a charming but unusual red-over-grey 1961 Riley 1.5 beat its lower estimate to sell for £5178, and a Ford 2.8 V6-powered 1969 Land Rover Series 2A was sold for £7848.

Luxury motoring came in all shapes and sizes, including a 2003 Bentley Arnage R that had been imported from Japan and showed just 38,000 miles, which sold mid-estimate for £16,500. It was joined by numerous Jaguars, including a 2003 XKR 4.2 Coupe that sold for £7630 and a rare S-Type 4.2 V8, which fetched £2452.

Classic commercials were in plentiful demand and supply, starting with an imported Citroën HY selling for £3815, followed by a 36,000-mile 1982 Bedford CF truck that managed £5995. At opposite ends of the condition spectrum were a 1974 Austin J4 that was sold as a full restoration but looked good value at £1308, and a 1990 Bedford Rascal in remarkably tidy condition that beat its estimate to sell for £5504.
