The Classic Car Auctions Autumn Sale on Saturday September 30 is the specialist’s penultimate live auction of 2023, taking place at the Warwickshire Event Centre near Leamington Spa

CCA has already sold £6.5million-worth of cars this year, so it returns to the West Midlands venue with high hopes. There are more than 150 lots on offer that predominately carry estimates in five and even six-figure, but with a few potential sub-£10,000 bargains too.

British classics feature prominently in this sale, from a handful of Austin Minis to Lotus and Rolls Royce models. Amongst those catching our eye is a barn-find 1973 Morris Mini 1275GT, emerging from 30 years of storage and showing just 15,329 miles on its odometer. It’s guided at £13,000-£16,000, but a similar car made over £38,000 at the NEC earlier this year. A historically significant 1968 Lotus Elan Plus 2 fitted with a Cosworth BDA engine is another car sure to pique interest, while those in search of a bargain might find a 223,000-mile 1987 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur of interest. Formerly owned by billionaire publisher, the late Felix Dennis, until 2015, it is guided at £6000-£8000.

Like the aforementioned Mini, two similar finds might appeal to those in search of a project. A very early right-hand drive, 2-litre A-Series Porsche 911 Sportomatic – off the road for at least 35 years and showing just 46,000 miles – could sell for £15,000, while an astonishing garage-find Beetle Karman Convertible that has covered just two miles from new is anticipated to bring the hammer down at £10,000-£12,000. Indeed, German car fans will appreciate the lots in this sale, with several Mercedes-Benz lots and water-cooled Volkswagens set to be entered.

Fast Fords remain popular too – take your pick from a pair of Ford Sierra Sapphire Cosworths, a crop of Capris and a tasty 1990 Fiesta RS Turbo. But when it comes to future classics it doesn’t get much better than the 1991 Citroen AX GTi on offer with 15,897 miles showing, which is estimated at £14,000-£18,000.   • This 1973 Mini 1275 GT has recently emerged from 30 years in hibernation and has covered a mere 15,329 miles in the hands of a sole registered keeper. Guided at £13,000-£16,000, it now requires cosmetic and mechanical restoration and is unaccompanied by paperwork.
  • This 1968 Elan Plus 2 is a significant car with a fascinating history. It is offered from the estate of the late Kevin Whittle, a respected Lotus Historian. One of, if not the first, Elan to be fitted with the Cosworth BDA, it could well reach its upper estimate of £25,000.
  • One of few surviving examples of the Abarth-influenced, first generation, Ritmo 105TC (marketed as the Strada in the UK), this 1981 Fiat was imported to the UK from Italy in 2018 and has formed part of a private collection ever since. It’s sold with no reserve, but is guided at £7000-£9000.
  • This 1967 Cortina GT Mk2 is a one-off creation fitted with a fuel-injected Lotus Twin-cam engine, a five-speed gearbox and numerous other upgrades. It was the subject of £40,000-worth of expenditure over a five-year restoration period, making its guide price of £15,000-£18,000 very attractive.
  • This 1991 pre-production Granada Scorpio Cosworth 24-valve was not registered until 2017, having been used by Ford for publicity before becoming Belfast University's Science department training vehicle and subsequently kept by a lecturer. As a result, it has covered just 2160 miles from new and could well hit its upper estimate of £25,000.
  • Described as being in time-warp condition, this Stag Mk2 emerges from long-term ownership having been in the care of its current keeper since 1999. Finished in striking Mimosa Yellow with a black factory hardtop, the V8 has covered 78,000 miles and is estimated at £10,000-£12,000.
  • This 1991 Volvo 240 featured on TV’s Wheeler Dealers and is believed to be one of around 300 run-out Torslanda models remaining. This one underwent restoration work for the show and is offered with no reserve – it could be yours for its lower estimate of £4000.
  • Listed as an “unrepeatable emerging modern classic,” this lightly recommissioned 1991 AX GTi shows just 15,897 miles on its odometer, almost certainly making it one of the lowest mileage examples in the UK. Its guide price is £14,000-£18,000.
