The final Anglia Car Auctions (ACA) sale of the summer takes place on August 19–20 with variety certain to garner plenty of interest

The catalogue for the next ACA sale includes the David Brown Collection comprising seven vehicles found in a suburban shed in the South East, said to have been stored since the 1970s or early 1980s.

Among the cars unearthed are three Jaguar E-Type Series 2 cars, two AC Aces and an AC Aceca, all in need of restoration. Nonetheless, with a collective worth in the region of £200,000 as they stand and up to one million restored, there is scope for enthusiasts and investors to engage in an exciting bidding war.

Elsewhere, several marques are well represented. Austins offered range from various Minis and a Metro through to a tidy Austin-Healey 100/6 (BN4) featuring a Chevrolet Small Block V8 engine! The breadth of Fords is impressive too, ranging in age from a 1955 103E Popular to a 2001 Puma 1.7 – both offered without reserve. A 1964 Cortina GT Mk1 guided at £20,000–24,000 and a uprated 1988 Fiesta XR2 with a modest £3500–4500 estimate cater for fans plus aty Blue Ovals, while those who love everyman classics may well be tempted by a 1985 Orion 1.6D GL and or 1994 Mondeo 1.8 LX – both with no reserve – plus  a 1980 Cortina 1.6 GL that’s anticipated to sell for £5000–7000.

Jaguar enthusiasts are similarly well catered-for, thanks to several intriguing lots outside of the David Brown Collection. These span a left-hand drive 1958 MkI 3.4 guided at £12,000–14,000 to a 2006 XK8 4.2 Convertible anticipated to make £10,000–12,000. If you prefer German classics, however, one of a handful of Mercedes-Benz models might float your boat. While the 1970 280 SL Pagoda guided at £75,000–95,000 is undoubtedly beautiful, two blue 190E models offered without reserve will hold more appeal to those searching for a useable modern classic. BMWs could also prove popular, with a 1993 318i Touring Lux offered with no reserve, a 1998 840Ci showing just 38,676 miles estimated at £18,000–20,000 and a rare Z3M coupe that could make as much as £34,000.

With MGs and Triumphs aplenty, plus American muscle and rarities like a Bristol 410, a Honda Z600 and a 1952 Lancia Ardea, this is a sale to tick all boxes.  Head to angliacarauctions.co.uk for the full catalogue.

  • One of seven “barn finds” forming part of the David Brown Collection, this no-reserve AC Ace was once owned by British racing driver, Betty Haig. Its continuation buff log book shows it being under its current keeper since 1974.
  • With a single owner from new, this 1988 Metro City shows just 25,083 miles. Offered direct from a film company, it is MoT'd until February 2024 and could be yours for its lower estimate of just £2000.
  • One of several BMWs in this sale, this 1999 Z3 M Coupe has travelled just 31,800 miles from new. Nicknamed 'The Breadvan', these models have become very collectable, and this one is estimated at £30,000-£34,000.
  • Another David Brown Collection car, this 1969 Jaguar E-Type 4.2 Series 2 Roadster has remained unused for many years and requires a full restoration. A DVLA history check shows it was last taxed in 1984.
  • Kept in the same family since new in 1962, this Imperial Red Ford Anglia hasn't been running for at least 20 years and so now requires recommissioning. Offered with no reserve, it shows what is believed to be a genuine 58,508 miles.
  • Offered due to retirement and lack of use, this rare top-of-the-range 1980 Renault 18 GTS has the 1647cc engine with a five-speed gearbox. It is showing a mere 49,831 miles and is guided at £4000-£6000.
  • Estimated at £15,000-£18,000, this 1979 Datsun 240K Skyline GT coupe is sure to attract competitive bidding. The rare Japanese classic has an MoT until April 2024 and looks to be in excellent condition throughout.
  • This 1960 MkI A40 Farina is guided at just £2500-£3500. Showing 36,940 miles on its odometer, the Austin is said to be running and driving without issue and could prove to be a bargain starter classic.
