Huge variety and plenty of temptation – it can only be another WB & Sons auction. Here are some highlights of the upcoming July 15 sale

Whether you fancy a late Reliant Robin, Ford Transit ice cream van or twin-turbocharged Lamborghini Gallardo, the breadth of choice at WB & Sons next sale on July 15 means there’s something for everyone.

Fortunately, there’s a plethora of interesting cars between these two extremes – particularly if you’re after a Blue Oval. Older models include a 1961 Consul Deluxe that could make £15,000, as well as a smart Mk2 Ford Cortina GT that’s estimated at £8000-£10,000 and a Mk1 Capri race car that could break the £20,000 barrier.

However, it’s the ’80s and ’90s models that may well grab the headlines. A 1987 Fiesta XR2 said to be in stunning condition is estimated at £15,000-£20,000, with a 1986 example also offered with a more modest £10,000-£14,000 guide. The top performer could be a 1991 Mk3 Fiesta RS Turbo though – WB’s last example sold for almost £25,000, but £18,000-£22,000 is expected to be enough to take this one home. If you don’t mind a little more work, a 1988 Escort RS Turbo is estimated at a rather lighter £7000-£8000.

Other performance cars in the sale include a 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX wagon and a 2006 Legacy Spec B, along with a 1994 993-generation Porsche 911 and a 2007 Aston Martin Vantage. Meanwhile, a 1989 Lotus Esprit Turbo is expected to sell for £24,000-£28,000, but the Lotus influence doesn’t end there – there’s a rare example of a Proton Satria GTi, a model that was fettled by Hethel. The 1999 example is estimated at £2500-£3000.

Traditional Brits feature strongly too, with stunning examples of the FC Vauxhall Victor estate and Wolseley 1500 joining various MGBs and a Morris Minor with just 190 miles on the odometer. And elsewhere, there are several European icons. A 1969 Fiat 500 Giardiniera is joined by a late X1/9, with Citroën well represented by a 1977 2CV van and another deux chevaux that dates from 1987 – this time a 2CV6 Special. You’ll also find a 1990 Trabant 601 S, estimated at £3000-£3500.

  • Now a rare sight, the Proton Satria GTi is famed for being fettled by Lotus. This 1999 example drives well but is in need of some light TLC. At an estimated £2500-£3000, it could make an interesting an unusual purchase.
  • Estimated at £10,000-£12,000, this rare 1966 Vauxhall Victor FC 101 estate looks superb in cream with a maroon roof and interior. It’s in excellent condition, including the underneath, and shows 82,000 miles
  • Offering a huge contrast to the Lamborghini is this 1990 Trabant 601 S. One of the last two-stroke models in ‘Deluxe’ trim, it has optional extras including chrome bumpers and intermittent windscreen wipers, and is expected to fetch £3000-£5000.
  • This 1963 Fiat 500 is the rare Giardiniera estate version, complete with a full-length sunroof. Beautifully presented throughout and rare in right-hand drive, its expected to change hands for £10,000-£12,000.
  • Fancy an as-new Minor? Originating from a collection in York, this 1968 Morris 1000 saloon has covered a genuine 190 miles from new and still has the safety tags on its seat belts. It’s never been painted or taken apart, and is expected to sell for £24,000-£26,000.
  • WB & Sons are used to achieving the high notes with a Fiesta RS Turbo having sold a white example for £24,725 a year ago. This stunning 1991 Mercury Grey comes with a huge history file and could easily go the same way, exceeding its £18,000-£22,000 estimate.
  • One of two Mk2 Ford Fiesta XR2s currently in the sale, this 1987 Strato Silver is a former award winner that’s WB reckon is easily the most original condition XR2 on the market. In stunning condition, it comes with two sets of wheels and is estimated at £15,0000-£20,000.
  • It’s not regular CCB fare granted, but this 2004 Lamborghini Gallardo is bound to raise eyebrows thanks to its 5.2-litre V10 mated fitted with a Heffner twin turbo conversion. It’s currently running around 850bhp, with the potential for 1200bhp, and could sell for as much as £85,000.
