14 club show winners are set to face off at the Meguiar’s Showcase at the NEC Classic Motor Show on November 11–13
A total of 14 winners from club shows around the country have been chosen for the Meguiar’s Club Showcase at this year’s Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show at the NEC, Birmingham on November 11–13.
Competing cars span the breadth of the classic hobby; the oldest is Mark Rainer’s 1956 Triumph TR3, while Judith Kippax’s 1995 Volkswagen Corrado VR6 Storm is the youngest. The came out on top at the TR Register’s show, while the latter topped the Leiciestershire VW Concours.
Other finalist cars include Keith Thompson’s Jaguar E-type 3.8, James Hunt’s Austin Seven Mini, Rob Owens’ Mercedes 190E and a Rover 420 owned by Matthew Lynch. Former contestant Steve Thomson – who last entered the Meguiar’s Club Showcase in 2005 with a Renault 5 GT Turbo – returns this year with an ultra-rare 1987 Renault 11 Turbo.
The variety continues with a BMW E30 316 joining the lineup alongside a Ferrari 250 GTE 2+2, Volvo Amazon 123GT and a Volkswagen Golf Mk1 Cabriolet. The winner of Best in Show at Classics World sister event Volksworld also enters the Showcase as a finalist: a 1962 Volkswagen Beetle owned by Donald Harvey.
The 14 cars selected for the Meguiar’s will go through a meticulous judging process before an overall winner is revealed on Sunday at 12 noon in a presentation on the Meguiar’s stand.
